§ 6-7. Arson reward.

  • (a)

    Arson reward established. The City of Terrell, Texas will pay out of the general fund of the city, the sum of $1,000.00 reward to any person or persons giving information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons found guilty of committing the crime of arson within the city limits of the City of Terrell. This reward is a standing offer and shall be paid out of the general fund of the city. The city council shall be the sole and exclusive judge in determining whether or not a person or persons are entitled to such reward and in determining the proration between persons where more than one person is entitled to such reward, and the conclusions of the city council in such cases shall be final.

    (b)

    Publicizing reward offer.

    The fire marshal is hereby authorized and directed to cause placards measuring eight inches by 12 inches in size to be printed with the following language thereon:

    ARSON REWARD

    The City of Terrell, Texas hereby offers a reward of $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons found guilty of committing the crime of arson within the city limits of the City of Terrell, Texas. This reward is a standing offer, and shall be paid out of the general fund of the City of Terrell, Texas.

    The fire marshal is hereby authorized and directed to post such placards at the municipal building, post office, library, and three other public buildings within the city limits. The fire marshal shall keep an additional supply of placards on hand and replace any placards worn or defaced. The fire marshal shall also furnish to the state board of insurance a certified copy of this section, a copy of one such placard, and the list of the buildings where such placards have been posted inside the city limits.
