§ 12-11. Mandatory water connections.

  • Every business establishment, as defined by the code of ordinances, which is situated within 100 feet of a public water main shall forthwith be connected thereto and maintained so that such main shall be the sole source of drinking water used by such business establishment. Such connection shall be in accordance with the provisions of this code. This mandatory water connection shall not be applicable to storage buildings or similar structures which have no toilet facilities.

    Failure to connect to a public water main, as provided in the paragraph above, within ten days following receipt of a written notice from the city engineer to make such connection shall, unless delay is caused by war, strikes, insurrection or acts of God, be a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine, and each day of violation shall be deemed a separate offense.
